How to Replace timing chain on Peugeot 207 1.6i 16V 2010-

Special tools

  • Camshaft sprocket holding tool – No.1 860 765 000 ((-).0191).
  • Camshaft housing alignment pins – No.(-).0194.N.
  • Camshaft sprocket holding tool – No.(-).0191.M.
  • Camshaft sprocket locking tool – No.(-).0194.B.
  • Crankshaft alignment tool – No.(-).0194.A.
  • Flywheel locking tool – No.(-).0194.C.

General precautions

  • Disconnect battery earth lead.
  • Remove glow plugs to ease turning engine.
  • Turn engine in normal direction of rotation (unless otherwise stated).
  • Observe tightening torques.
  • If fitted: Mark position of crankshaft position (CKP) sensor before removal.
  • Do NOT turn crankshaft via camshaft or other sprockets.
  • Do NOT turn crankshaft or camshaft with timing chain removed.

Valve timing procedures

  • Removal/installation of timing chain requires:
      • Timing belt removal.
      • Camshaft housing removal [1] .
  • Align camshaft sprocket:
      • Type A: [2] .
      • Type B: [3] .
  • Align coloured chain links with timing mark on each sprocket:
      • Type A: [4] & [5] .
      • Type B: [6] & [7] .
  • Timing chain tensioner must be installed before camshafts are installed [8] .
  • Ensure camshaft keyway positioned as shown [9] .
