- Camshaft sprocket holding tool – No.205-053.
- Camshaft sprocket holding tool pins – No.205-053-04.
- Camshaft timing pin – No.303-1277.
- Flywheel timing pin – No.303-1270.
General precautions
- Disconnect battery earth lead.
- Remove glow plugs to ease turning engine.
- Turn engine in normal direction of rotation (unless otherwise stated).
- Observe tightening torques.
- If fitted: Mark position of crankshaft position (CKP) sensor before removal.
- Do NOT turn crankshaft via camshaft or other sprockets.
- Do NOT turn crankshaft or camshaft with timing chain removed.
Valve timing procedures

- Removal/installation of timing chain requires:
- Ensure flywheel timing pin located correctly [1] .
- Ensure camshaft timing pin located correctly [2] .
- Lock timing chain tensioner before carrying out repairs:
- Lift pin and turn 90° clockwise to lock tensioner plunger [3] .
- Turn pin 90° anti-clockwise to release tensioner plunger [3] .
- Remove camshaft housing.
- Remove camshaft sprocket [4] .
- Remove timing chain, camshafts and chain tensioner as an assembly.
- Remove flywheel timing pin.
- Turn crankshaft anti-clockwise 90° until crankshaft keyway at 9 o’clock position.
- Align coloured chain links with timing mark on each sprocket [5] & [6] .
- Install timing chain, camshafts and chain tensioner as an assembly.
- Install camshaft sprocket [4] .
- Fit camshaft timing pin [2] .
- Install camshaft housing.
- Turn crankshaft clockwise 90° until crankshaft keyway at 12 o’clock position.
- Fit flywheel timing pin [1] .
