Vauxhall recommend replacement as follows:
→96MY – replacement every 40,000 miles or 4 years, whichever occurs first.
97-98MY – replacement every 80,000 miles or 8 years, whichever occurs first.
99MY→ – replacement every 80,000 miles or 8 years, whichever occurs first (tensioner pulley must also be replaced).
Meriva – replacement every 80,000 miles or 8 years (tensioner pulley must also be replaced).
The previous use and service history of the vehicle must always be taken into account.

Vauxhall recommend replacement as follows:
Y17DT:
Replacement every 100,000 miles or 10 years, whichever occurs first (tensioner pulley, guide pulley and crankshaft sprocket must also be checked).
Z17DTH:
→2005MY:Replacement every 60,000 miles or 10 years, whichever occurs first (tensioner pulley, guide pulley and crankshaft sprocket must also be checked).
2006MY→:Replacement every 60,000 miles or 10 years, whichever occurs first (tensioner pulley and guide pulley must also be replaced). Check condition of crankshaft sprocket.
The previous use and service history of the vehicle must always be taken into account.

2003MY→ – replacement every 60,000 miles or 6 years, whichever occurs first (tensioner pulley must also be replaced).

→2002½MY – replacement every 40,000 miles or 4 years, whichever occurs first (tensioner pulley must also be replaced).
2002½MY→ – replacement every 60,000 miles or 6 years, whichever occurs first (tensioner pulley must also be replaced).
Astra-H/Signum/Meriva:
Replacement every 60,000 miles or 6 years (tensioner pulley must also be replaced).
All models:
2001MY→ guide pulley(s) must also be replaced.
The previous use and service history of the vehicle must always be taken into account.
