Special tools
- Crankshaft pulley bolt socket – Honda No.07JAA-001020A.
- Crankshaft pulley holding tool – Honda No.070AB-RJA0100.
- Crankshaft pulley holding tool handle – Honda No.07JAB-001020B.
General precautions
- Disconnect battery earth lead.
- Remove spark plugs to ease turning engine.
- Turn engine in normal direction of rotation (unless otherwise stated).
- Observe tightening torques.
- If fitted: Mark position of crankshaft position (CKP) sensor before removal.
- Do NOT turn crankshaft via camshaft or other sprockets.
- Do NOT turn crankshaft or camshaft with timing chain removed.
Valve timing procedures
- Removal/installation of timing chain requires:
- Sump removal.
- Engine at TDC on No.1 cylinder.
- Ensure timing marks aligned [1] , [2] & [3] .
- Align coloured chain link with timing mark on crankshaft sprocket [4] .
- Align coloured chain links with timing mark on camshaft sprocket [5] .
- Tighten crankshaft pulley bolt [6] . Tightening torque: 37 Nm + 90°.
NOTE: If crankshaft or crankshaft pulley bolt replaced: Tighten crankshaft pulley bolt to 177 Nm then fully slacken.
